Choreography is forming the dance into a strongly reproducible and timely form of expression. Whereas improvisation propels one-of-a-kinds. I find it interesting to translate this second form into the visual arts, where the improvised, the thought-in-the-moment is able to materialise itself and is becoming readable. The documented moment is manifesting itself through the language of the chosen medium and becomes independent. Improvisation thus becomes a relict, a reconstruction of a time-bound expression of a materiality. The dramatics of the banishment of a moment that can’t be reconstructed in its own language, thus stay persistent.
