On Thursday, 16 July 2026, I will be a guest at Kunstmuseum Basel | Gegenwart for a tandem tour through the exhibition Cao Fei. Testimonies to the Near Future.
Together with curator Alice Wilke, I will speak about the connections between Cao Fei’s works and hip-hop culture. Drawing on my long-standing practice in breaking and my artistic work at the intersection of dance and visual art, we will look at themes such as self-empowerment, the appropriation of space, the development of style, sampling, remixing, and the transmission of embodied knowledge.
The tour will focus, among other things, on Cao Fei’s Hip Hop Series and on questions of how movements, images, and cultural codes circulate globally, are taken up locally, and translated into new forms.
The tour takes place as part of Long Thursday on street culture and hip-hop. In addition to the tandem tour, the evening includes further programme items, including breakdance with Flux Crew and beat production with HitProducer.
