DIGITAL NATIVES

Scanned poses of different people are modelled in virtual space and find their way into the physical world through 3D printing. Since the time we humans have settled down, we have constantly developed knowledge based on our physical experience of the space around us – a knowledge that is stored in our subconscious mind and in the body’s memory. As part of the few generations that were born into a predominantly analog world and yet still grew up with digitalisation, Timo Paris deals with the formation of individual identity in a cross-media manner. He is concerned with how the digital way of acting and thinking is reflected in the physical world. Nowadays our personality is increasingly being shaped in the virtual world and thus invites us to negotiating anew issues of inner and outer presence, distance and temporality.
